What is the significance of a triumvirate?
A triumvirate is a political alliance between 3 of the most powerful men in the Senate or in Government. The triumvirate, in theory, was supposed to provide the Empire with peace. However, it actually symbolized a pre-war condition. During the triumvirate the triumvirs would rally their troops and strengthen their power in the Senate until a war was to commence.
