What is the signaling technology used in HyperTransport technology?
It is in the family of LVDS Low Voltage Differential Signaling, however, it is not a conventional LVDS standard. It is an enhanced LVDS technique that has been developed in order to improve performance and designed with future silicon process technologies in mind to establish HyperTransport technology as a standard with a long lifespan. LVDS has been widely used in these types of applications because it enables fewer pins and wires to be used and supports long cable lengths. It also requires less power and is less costly because the transceivers are built into the controller chips.
