What is the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI)?
The Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) is an assessment that documents how well an individual can function using ASL/sign language to communicate his/her thoughts, ideas, and opinions in a face-to-face conversation with a superior level sign communicator. The SLPI interview assessment consists of the interview process, rating process, and reporting process. Results of the SLPI interview are shown as a specific rating level that is criterion referenced (based on predetermined standards).
