What is the Sidewalk Repair Program?

0

The City of Lincoln contracts with private construction firms to perform designated repairs. Residential, Commercial and Business areas are surveyed by City employees for the purpose of identifying needed repairs. Initially substantial defects of two inches or more are targeted for repair in residential areas. This effort is to repair the major defects throughout the City as our first priority. Eventually all sidewalk defects of 3/4 inch or greater will be repaired in residential and commercial areas. Property owners may repair sidewalk adjacent to their property, or they may wait for the City’s Repair Program. A no fee repair permit must be obtained from the Public Works and Utilities office previous to any work. An inspection is also required by the Sidewalk Section previous to pouring any concrete.

The sidewalk repair program is an annual program where broken sidewalks with trip hazards are replaced by a City hired contractor. The property owner is then charged for a portion of the repair work performed adjacent to their property. There is a waiting list for this program.
