A collection of mainly undergraduate texts likely to be in heavy demand. Teaching staff ask Library staff to add certain recommended course readings to the Short Loan Collection, to ensure that students in larger classes are given the same opportunity for access.Borrowing periods are restricted to a maximum of four hours during the day, or overnight, or over the weekend. You may borrow up to 3 books from the Short Loan Collection, at one time. The leaflet gives information about borrowing and booking times.

Some materials are expected to be in very heavy demand, and so are placed into the Short Loan Collection at Chelmsford or Cambridge. In each case, the Collection is on the Ground Floor near the Issue Desk.

The Short Loan (formerly Reserve) Collections are where the most heavily used books and journal articles are kept. There is one in each Library. If you are looking for an item on a reading list, then it will most likely be in the Short Loan Collection.
