What is the Severn Tidal Power Feasibility Study?
Those who have proposed this as potentially providing 5% of the country’s electricity may have over-sold the potential. The study needs to be done to see whether this is for real. In Eastern Canada where there is the highest tidal variation a tidal power project was proceeded with and completed, giving unspectacular results. It did produce some power, but estimates were not close to being met. The conclusion drawn was that a better strategy might have emerged if more thought had gone into it.
