What is the Senior Honors Thesis?

The senior thesis is a two-quarter course (Anth 195A & B) in which you will focus on a substantial research project in coordination with a professor. Upon completion of your thesis with a B or above, you will receive “Distinction in the Major” at graduation. You will learn to follow a major project through to completion. You will learn how to gather and analyze data, and you will learn how to talk to professors and professionals about their subject. On a personal level, you will gain confidence, improve your writing skills, improve your ability to make oral presentations, and improve your time-management skills. These are the skills you will need on a professional level in whatever career you choose to undertake (especially graduate work!) If you are interested in the senior thesis, you will need to pick up an application, available in the Anthropology main office (2001 Humanities and Social Sciences Bldg.). Once the professor of record signs it, return it to the undergraduate advisor
