What is the selection process?
Once the testing process has been completed, the County of Napa Human Resources will establish an Eligibility List and notify you either by email or mail of your status on the Eligibility List. Candidates who rank in the top six standings on the Eligibility List, are referred on to the County department with the vacancy. You will be notified by the hiring department who will set up the interview. Each department schedules their own interviews and notifies candidates of the results of those interviews. Our selection process is a two-tiered peer review. First, applications are reviewed by a three member panel of artists and arts professionals from the discipline under consideration. We accept applications annually for the three discipline categories under consideration in that year. The discipline-specific panels are charged with selecting finalists to be put forward to the final, interdisciplinary panel. The discipline-specific panels work by consensus and are charged with putting 10% of the pool forward as finalists for consideration in the final round.
The selection process and timelines may vary by position. Only applicants that meet the minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the hiring department for evaluation. Other areas of screening may include: preferred qualifications and examinations. Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an oral panel interview. All candidates participating in the interview process will be notified via email of the outcome. All offers of employment are conditional upon an applicant’s successful completion of pre-employment screening.
