0

SCAIP is a project between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in Canada and A-CLOC to train a new generation of organizers in Canada, more than doubling the size of SEIUs organizing staff in Canada. Under the guidance of a trainer from ACLOC and in cooperation with SEIU Canadas Organizing Directors, interns go through an intensive 3 week training that includes: • A primer on what unions are and how they work • Strategy and tactics in organizing new workplaces • Intensive, one-on-one and group practice for housevisits • Intensive, one-on-one practice and group practice for site visits • Housevisits under the supervision of the trainer and on their own • Basics of list management, making organizing plans, and turf management • A-CLOC handles the employment and administrative duties At the end of the internship, all participants are evaluated by the ACLOC trainer, and the results are presented to SEIU management for their hiring decisions.
