What is the screening process for egg donation?
There is a rigorous screening process for all parties involved. This includes a complete history and physical exam, blood work, lab testing for transmissible diseases, and genetic abnormalities and psychological evaluation. Once preliminary screening has been completed, donors are notified whether they qualify to participate. This does not mean there is anything wrong with donors who are not accepted – we must have very rigorous exclusion criteria for the benefit of both donor and recipient. It is essential to make sure no one regrets participation in the program.
