What is the scope of biomedical engineering.?
Biomedical Engineering is a very broad field these days. It covers anything from the designing of artificial hearts, to determining how cells respond to shear stress, to developing programs to model blood vessel motions or gait (walking) patterns. Typically, schools offering a Biomedical Engineering major will have concentrations for you to choose from within this major, such as Biomechanics, Neuroengineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Bioinformatics; essentially, this enables you to become more specialized in a particular area of Biomedical Engineering, since it is such a broad field. As a Biomedical Engineer, you could end up working for a medical device company, a pharmaceutical company, a medical-focused marketing company, a research lab, or as a professor, among other things.
