What is the scientific reason for locating the bedroom in the south – west corner of the house ?
Out of the five elements, the south – west is ruled by earth elements and is most stable. Since India is in the northern hemisphere, the Indian Peninsula is exposed to more ultraviolet sunrays which gives more heat and less light. So, it is best to locate the bedroom, dining hall and multi – purpose rooms in this direction. In case there is less space between the compound and the main wall, due to the Joule Thompson effect, the hot breeze generated by the solar energy gets even more heated in the southern and western zones. Since hot air becoming lighter goes up, cool air from the north – east zone occupy the area. By this process, the hottest air turns cooler due to the compression of air molecules, pressurized by small horizontal openings. This is why the bedroom should be located in the south – west.
