What is the scientific name for dove/ghost tree and what family?
The Dove Tree, Davidia involucrata, is also called Ghost Tree and Handkerchief Tree because of the shape of its white flowers. It is native to southwestern China and is thought to be a survivor of the Ice Age. The Dove Tree is deciduous and grows to a height of twenty meters. Its family is elusive or incoherent, and could belong to the Nyssaceae or Cornaceae or be the only member of its own family, Davidiaceae. This tree was named after Father Armand David, a French missionary plant Explorer.
