The HSRP implementation is scheduled to commence on or before 1st June 2005 for new vehicles to be registered and within two years thereof for earlier registered vehicles. There were a few cases pending with Hon’ble Supreme Court where some allegations were reported in selection procedure of HSRP authorisation of State Governments. Hon’ble Supreme Court in a judgement dismissed all such writ petitions challenging the selection procedures for vendors. Ministry of Road Transport had asked the States to initiate steps for the implementation of HSRP by 1st Jun’05. The new deadline as set down by the Honorable Supreme Court is November 07, 2008.
