What is the schedule for the feasibility study?
• Scoping: gather information from local agencies, organizations and individuals on issues and concerns to be addressed in the study (January – November, 2000). • Preparation of draft feasibility study report and environmental impact statement (EIS): Collect and analyze available data. NPS will determine significance, suitability, and feasibility as a potential National Park unit, and develop management alternatives and environmental impacts associated with each alternative. The draft report and EIS is scheduled to be available for public review in summer, 2002. A period for public review and comment follows the draft report distribution. • Preparation of final feasibility study report and EIS, and recommendation to Congress: summer, 2003.
