The following scan logic is used, based on the type of scan: • Local Scan: • MSIA scans for the Microsoft products specified by the user. • The hard drives on the local machine are scanned. The floppy drives, CD ROM drives and network drives are excluded from the scan. • MSIA scans the machine for the selected products by looking for their executable and the registry keys corresponding to their installation. Once these details are found, they are matched against the details in the MSIA data files. The scanned product is reported, if it is a match. However, if a product is found on the machine, and if its details differ from those in the data files, it is entered in the Mismatch.txt file. • In case of Visio products, the same logic used for scanning other Microsoft products is used. However, the necessary Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) are also scanned before a match is made. • Network Scan: All the steps required for Local scan apply to Network scan also, except that MSIA checks for Net
