What is the scale/size of the African Plate?

0

I am having difficulty finding anything about the actual size of the African Plate. It is roughly the same shape as Africa, includes the entire continent, and goes out to the mid-Ocean ridge on the west, almost halfway to Australia on the East, and about halfway to Antarctica on the south. The boundaries run pretty close to Africa on the northeast (through the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea) and north (about midway across the Mediterranean). It appears to be 2 – 3 times the size of the continent itself. If you get the dimension of the continent of Africa, look at the illustration on the referenced page, and estimate the additional distances, you can calculate the approximate size of the plate. Then you can set a scale to get down to the size you have to build your model. I just noticed that you are doing the Arabian plate with it, so you will need to include that to get your distance across.
