What is the SAT II?
The SAT II tests are specific to certain subjects, such as math, English language writing, non-English languages, and sciences. They are one hour long, and are given at the same time and place as the SAT I tests. Students can take up to three SAT II tests at one time. (See the SAT Schedule for 2003-2004 for more information). With the exception of the Writing test, all of these tests are multiple choice. These tests test your knowledge of the subject, as opposed to the general knowledge that the SAT I tests.
The SAT II’s are one-hour, mostly multiple-choice, individual tests that measure how much students know about a particular academic subject and how well they can apply that knowledge. Many colleges require or recommend one or more of the subject tests for admission and student-athletes will be advised as to whether they have to write them or not.
