What is the salt spray rating of stainless steel fasteners?
We are currently working on a page devoted to this topic and why, unless testing for salt water applications, this test carries little value. Salt Spray testing is primarily a test for fastener platings and coatings. Depending upon the type of fastener, passivation, etc, salt spray tests on 18-8 stainless steel fasteners can run from as little as 2 hours, to well over 500 hours. To be continued….
