What is the safest route from Buena Vista, CO to Breckenridge, CO?

I am going from Buena Vista to Breckenridge on Sunday afternoon. It is supposed to snow most of the week in both these towns so I’m looking for the safest route to travel. The way MapQuest shows takes me through a pass with a lot of switchbacks that I am just not comfortable travelling in my sedan. And suggestions would be very appreciated!
