I think Acid reflux is when the acid backs up into your stomach and GERD is when the acid backs up into your esophogus To my knowledge the chance of serious side effects with Prilosec are so minimal that it’s worth taking the chance. Mom has been taking Prilosec since long before it was available over the counter, is in her 80s and has no heart problems. I would speak to your doctor before taking it long term to make sure you aren’t in the group of people most likely to encounter problems.
