The best location for your car seat is in the middle of the back seat. If you can’t get a great fit there (moves less than 1″ when you tug at the belt path), then the safest place is an outboard position, assuming you can get a great fit there. If you can’t get a great fit with your seat, get a new one that will be more compatible with your car (try the Interactive Compatibility Database to see what works with your car). Never, ever put a rear-facing car seat in the front seat if there’s an airbag.
