What is the “safest” Indonesian airline?
Many people would say Garuda is the safest airline in Indonesia for inter-island flights, but that’s not saying much. Most of these airlines have planes that are 20 – 25 years old, and the upkeep is dismal at best. All Indonesian airlines are now banned from the EU. Their safety and possibility for hijacking are big concerns. http://news.airwise.com/story/view/11830… Good alternatives would be to charter a small plane. They are privately owned and better maintained. You could also try sailing, but the water can be rough at times.
