What is the safest city/place to visit in Europe?
I’d have to agree that those Swiss cities are safest, although in all of the many times I have traveled around Europe, I have only ever had a weapon drawn on me once, and that was in a park in Zürich, of all places! (The authorities have since cleared up that park and it is now very pleasant.) I have also enjoyed just wandering around Stockholm and Göteborg in Sweden, Salzburg in Austria, and Bologna in Italy, and never once felt uncomfortable. It helps to take some responsibility for yourself and avoid dark, untraveled streets, back alleys, etc., to not look like a tourist, and to stick to more populated areas, just as you would at home.
