I always tell my customers to never use paste or creams because it will “sand” down the designs on jewelry and it also leaves a lot of residue in the hard to reach places. You also have to use some kind of brush to get the residue out of rope necklaces or from around mounted stones and brushes scratch your gold and silver. Whenever you rub on silver or gold, you are removing some of the metal. I tell every one of my customers to use Silvermate liquid silver cleaner. It is over 95% water and is non-hazardous and non-abrasive and only takes less than 30 seconds to clean gold, goldpate, sterling silver and silverplate. It also polishes all in the one easy step. Just put the item in the Silvermate, move it back and forth for up to 30 seconds, rinse it w/ tap water, and dry it with a paper towel. Check them out.
