What is the SA password and what does it do?
The SA password is created during the installation of CAREWare. It is a user defined password for the SQL Server database. Once a password is provided it cannot be changed unless the current password is known. The System Administrator password is used for SQL Server database and you set it during a fresh install of the database. Once it is provided it cannot be changed unless you know the password. The installation is asking you to provide a new password. Write this password down and keep it in a safe place. You will not need the password to log in to CAREWare, only to manage the database. If you lose the SA password the CAREWare Help Desk strongly suggests that you exhaust all attempts to recover the password before attempting to detach and reattach the database as outlined in the System Administrator User manual. If all attempts to retrieve the password are exhausted, refer to the System Administrator User Manual pages 22-23.
