In the general sense the rule of ideas refers to both the traceable and the unpredictably complex influences and ramifications of ideas (by all meanings including conceptions, significations, models, memes and meme complexes, implicit philosophical assumptions, etc.), which “rule” in a sense “governs” all adaptive social interaction to a considerable extent, and always has in all human culture.
