What is the rule for a patient being seen by their physician prior to prescribing equipment?

For Power Mobility, the patient must be seen and evaluated within 45 days of the detailed written order for the equipment. If the patient is not seen within 45 days, they must return to their physician. For all other DME the patient should have been seen within 90 days of the prescription start date. If the patient was seen prior to 90 days of the order, the patient should go back to the treating physician to be re-evaluated. See Respiratory FAQS for details on oxygen and PAP devices.
