What is the RSPB doing to stop illegal hunting?
As a Partner in BirdLife International, we support other Partner organisation in countries where illegal hunting occurs. The Partner in the country concerned takes the front-line action. As well as advice, we give temporary financial assistance until the organisation becomes self-supporting. We then continue to help in other ways. This is the pattern for all our support programmes throughout the world. The RSPB employs officers to work with our BirdLife International Partners and to engage with the EU institutions and the Council of Europe to monitor the implementation of the Birds Directive and Bern Convention. To prevent unsustainable and illegal bird killing, the RSPB undertakes much lobbying of the European institutions and others to prevent any weakening of the current bird conservation measures, and to improve implementation of the law.
