What is the RS-232 port on the SG-2000 used for?
The RS-232 port is connected to a PC to control most of the functions that are available on the front panel of the radio. There is no provision to control the audio functions. This type of control is used for ALE (automatic link establishment) and for remote control of the unit via telephone lines. The RS-232 port is not used for standard data communications or weather fax reception. SGC can supply a simple DOS program for remote control applications.
