Inspired by the Rosie the Riveter Memorial, Congress created the “Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park,” to commemorate and interpret this important chapter of American history. The Park encompasses the Rosie the Riveter Memorial, historic elements of shipyard #3 (the single remaining wartime shipyard in Richmond), a future Home Front Visitor’s and Education Center in the nearby Ford Assembly Building (a small visitor center currently exists in the lobby of Richmond’s City Hall), and other structures remaining from the period, including daycare centers, war workers’ housing and the Kaiser Field Hospital. Located at 1401 Marina Way South, Richmond, CA 94804, the Memorial is available to tour from dawn to dusk. The National Park Visitor Center located in Richmond City Hall South is open 9am to 4pm, Monday Through Friday.
