Cushion or underpadding will prolong the life of your carpet and give it a luxurious feel. If the wrong cushion is used, even the highest quality carpet may fail to meet performance expectations! It acts as a shock absorber, protects the carpet from the wear and tear of heavy traffic, absorbs noise, and adds insulation. Cushion is available in sponge rubber, foam rubber, urethane foam, bonded urethane, or a felted combination of hair and jute. It also comes in a variety of densities, thickness, and weights for light, medium and heavy traffic; the higher the traffic the denser the cushion should be.
