The Five College consortium consists of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and Hampshire College. In the late 1960s, the other four schools helped create Hampshire, and without their initial and ongoing support Hampshire would never have been able to become what it is now. Cooperation abounds among the members of the consortium, and this cooperation may very well lead to the identification of ways to collaborate on programmatic initiatives that involve Veridian Village. The colleges, having cooperated in the research on this project, are all aware that their campus constituents may be very interested in joining the new community.
