What is the role of the Avon Foundation in the effort to end Domestic Violence?
The Avon Foundation supports initiatives and programs to eradicate domestic and intimate partner violence in the United States primarily directed to education and awareness, support for shelters and their programs, and programs assisting children who are victims of domestic violence or have witnessed domestic violence. We do this by providing financial assistance to direct service agencies. The Avon Foundation is not a direct service agency and does not provide direct services to individuals in need, rather we provide financial assistance to direct service agencies. In 2008 the Avon Foundation gave more than $4 million to these agencies through our “Not Seen, Not Heard: Helping Children of Domestic Violence” program, our “m.powerment campaign” chaired by Lauren Conrad, our Avon regional and location sales areas grants, and via additional miscellaneous grants outside those programs.
