What is the role of the ARD committee in the placement of Special Education students in a HSEP? Do Special Education students have to meet all the requirements to enroll in and participate in a HSEP?
The ARD committee has the authority to place a special education student in a HSEP. Therefore, special education students may not need to meet assessment requirements specified by HSEP law 29-087(f). When special education students are ready to take the GED test, they must have a HSEP Authorization Form to be admitted. For the date of the administration of the TAKS assessment, enter September 1, 2001. This will indicate that the student is not required to take the TAKS.
