Strategic Investment Group has been selected to manage the MDP II on behalf of CalPERS. Strategic has formed a joint venture with CalPERS, and will serve as the manager of the joint venture. As CalPERS joint venture partner, Strategic’s role will include activities such as: Sourcing, qualifying, and performing comprehensive due diligence on emerging investment management firms for consideration in the Program. With CalPERS’ approval, negotiating and structuring the private equity investment in each investment management firm. Strategic will co-invest in the equity of each emerging investment management firm. Providing business, marketing, planning, compliance, operational, and administrative consulting to MDP II firms, as necessary. Monitor the investment and business performance of each MDP II firm, and communicate updates with CalPERS. Identify and execute exit activities of each MDP II firm, when and however appropriate.
