What is the role of Reference Data Registration Authorities (RDRAs) in the implementation plan?

A. The first set of Reference Data Registration Authorities (RDRAs) may well be data providers. They will provide the operational components of the identifiers, the myriad of data attributes that collectively are called reference data. To do this they will link up with the federated GS1 Registry, administered by the GS1 Global Financial Services Registration Authority under grant of exclusivity by regulators. In the event that a universal LEI is established to the satisfaction of the Office by July 15, 2011, the Office, in consultation with the Chairperson of the Council, plans to issue a regulation mandating the use of such a standard for data reported to the Office.
