Infrastructure support in terms of rails, roads and ports is one of the major challenges of project cargo logistics. They hold the key to the success of project logistics. In India, however, we have seen some progress in this area, such as the ‘Golden Quadrilateral Project’ – a planned network of four lanes highway to connect major cities. This will bring significant increase in inbound and outbound of project cargo. The other major development is the freight corridors – (dedicated west and east freight corridors), which will be built by the government. It will not only save operational cost but also increase the safety and reliability of shipment handling.
