What is the role of ACNielsen in the Classification Project?
ACNielsen is the service provider who hosts the agreed industry classification Schema on an ACNielsen website for any licensed industry player to view and download. ACNielsen also participates in a working group to establish rules that govern the inclusion or exclusion of new items versus the schema as they appear on the market. In conjunction with an industry work group from some leading manufacturers and retailers, they have developed a set of rules governing the classification schema. They will be responsible for operating those rules on a day-to-day basis. New items appearing on the market that require a change to the Schema, according to the rules, will be added by ACNielsen, and an e-mail will be sent notifying the change to all licensees who choose to receive updates for the brick in question.
