What is the role of a sub-committees Chair?
While some sub-committee Chairs are elected by members of the standing committee, the Chair of this Sub-Committee was named in the motion establishing the Sub-Committee. The Chair presides over the Sub-Committee’s business and oversees the proceedings. Under the procedural rules of the House, the Chair has the power to maintain order and decorum during sittings and decides all questions of order and procedure. This is the main duty of the Chair.
