What is the role of a Speech and Language Therapist?
A Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) enable people to reach their maximum potential with regard to communication. A Speech and Language Therapist will assess the communication problems/difficulties and then provide advice, treatment and support that is relevant to your case. Speech and Language Therapists work within Education, Health and Social Care, the legal system, voluntary/charitable organizations and in independent practice. A Speech and Language Therapist will work with and when necessary liaise with the appropriate staff within these organizations as their job requires. All Speech and Language Therapists should be registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy (RCSLT) and Registered with the Health Professionals Councils (HPC).
