What is the role of a freight forwarder?
The freight forwarder is an individual or company dealing with cargo delivery services. The services of a forwarder include all the export services of a customs broker and may also include insurance, export packing and trucking. The freight forwarder accepts Less than Container Load (LCL) shipments from individual shippers and combines them for delivery to the carrier in Full Container Load (FCL) shipments. The services of a forwarder and a consolidator are reversible. Hence, the term forwarder is also used synonymously with the consolidator.
