Typically the board in a nonprofit organization is charged with approving policies, raising money and representing the community’s interest. Board members, in addition to serving as fiduciaries for the organization, are also responsible for hiring and supervising the chief executive officer; ensuring that programs and activities are consistent with the organization’s mission, and for representing the organization in the community.
