The Retention area holds any deleted files in the current backup. These files will stay there as defined by the retention policy of the backup set. You also have the option to restore files that are in the retention area. The main purpose of the retention area is to facilitate recovery of historical snapshots of a backup. Please note, however, that the data in the retention area still counts towards your quota.
