Recently the UN. Met in Johannesburg to discuss pressing sustainability issues . This was in follow up to the 1992 UN meeting which resulted in Agenda 21, “a comprehensive plan of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations ” in 1992. Locally, some businesses have active sustainability programs. EMAS, TNS and ISO 14000 are guidelines that have been established to help government organizations and industries become more sustainable. Refer to the Sustainability Basics Section of this website.
