What is the responsibility of the Office of Mental Health (OMH) with respect to persons with mental illness?
• OMH is responsible for assuring the development of comprehensive plans, programs, and services for research, prevention, care, treatment, rehabilitation, education, and training of persons with mental illness. OMH is required, by law, to cooperate with the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and the Office For People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) in the development of these plans, programs, and services.
