What is the Request for Proposal (RFP) or bidding process?
The RFP/bidding process begins with a business or scientific need for a supply or service. From time-to-time large categories of products and services are reviewed for bid opportunities. The Buyer reviews our existing pool of suppliers as well as our database for qualified candidates. If we have needs beyond the current approved supply base or our registered applicants we may contact the professional organizations and request small and diverse businesses that are a fit for the RFP. Selected suppliers may be invited for an interview and/or more information prior to the RFP going out for bid. Neither Scripps Research nor Scripps Florida are obligated to award any bidder a contract. Decisions are primarily driven by cost, quality, delivery, ability to reduce risk, customer service, and the supplier’s ability to provide the Institute with scientifically sound products and services. This process ensures that the minimum bid qualifications are met.
