what is the reputation of Public Relations today?
Hi Ritika, This is a very good question and one that can be debated for hours on end by those who practice PR. I think most people who teach PR would like to think that public relations has a wonderful reputation and is seen as a valuable strategic tool that when properly executed, can lead to a host of positive results for the client. Having worked in the field, I tend to be a bit more cynical. I believe that to many senior executives, PR is till all about spin. It is about getting the company out of what ever trouble they get in or getting people to believe a certain story. Thanks to the many misuses of public relations, especially in politics and in many business scandals I would have to say that the reputation of public relations remains low. The truly tragic part of this is that all public relations professionals tend to be tarred by the actions of a few.
