What is the Renaissance School of Apprenticeship?
The RSOA is a multidisciplinary alternative Art program. In the spirit of the Island Art Center, the RSOA will be taught apprenticeship style in terms of teaching and learning. This ritual transmission of information via teacher to student is fast becoming a lost art. This is why apprenticeship style learning is so important. Only ten students will be chosen for a three-year apprenticeship in three art forms. Students will gain enrollment based on their interest and talent in ether 2-D art, movement, or audio art. Together these ten young men and women (ages 18 to 24) will embark in full time intensive study of art in its basic three forms. The RSOA was developed by Art Center founder, Chris Mills, a true renaissance man. Chris will teach all the basic forms of art, music and movement. Master teachers will be brought in for intermediate and advanced clinics in the later sessions of the program. The RSOA will be comprised of three separate yet connected departments. • Drawing painting &
