what is the reliability of automatic (self winding) watches vs. Mechanical ones?
The main advantage of a self-winding watch is that you don’t have to remember to wind it. Human error, therefore, may make a regular mechanical watch less reliable. On the other hand, if you don’t wear your self-winding watch every day, it is likely to run down and you’ll need to reset it unless you use a watch winder. But other than those points, everything I’ve read suggests that self-winding watches are just as accurate and reliable as regular mechanical watches. I hope this helps!!
